Instructional Permit

For teens under 18
  • Take Driver's Ed (In-Person or Correspondence)
  • Pass the Written Test
  • Apply at MVD for Permit

Provisional License

Drive independently (with restrictions)
  • Hold permit for 6 months
  • Complete 50 hours of practice driving
  • Pass the Road Test at MDA

Unrestricted License

Full driving privileges
  • Hold provisional license for 12 months
  • No traffic violations
  • Automatically upgrades at MVD
